A few notes in July (1962)
Didn't want to get too bogged down with the minutiae, but a few things to note here on July 28th-
- The Mets just recently had another "amazing" streak of 6 wins. They swept the Giants in a 3-game series, took a double header from the Pirates and then won another game against the Reds before losing in 10 innings to the Reds to end the streak. Overall, the Mets are currently at 44-55...8th place and 19.5 games behind the Giants. The Twins have taken over 1st in the AL by 3 games over Chicago.
- Marvelous Marv seems like he just cemented his OOTP self in the hearts of OOTP Mets fans. In the first game of a recent doubleheader with St. Louis, the Mets and Cards were tied 7-7 heading to the 10th. In came Marv to pinch hit with two men on and he hit a 3-run HR to help the mets to an eventual 11-9 victory. The legend of the Marvelous one lives on!
- Gene Woodling has been incredible since his arrival in NY. He was hitting .267 in 191 AB with the Senators. Since he came to NY, he has 159 AB and is currently hitting .352....plus he has a .429 OBP and .509 SLG!
