July 6: Activated 2B Yuji Morioka from his rehab assignment, optioned IF Josh Sprouse to AAA Durham.

Game 1: Dave Rose pitched well but the bats didn't support him and the Rays lost a tough one to Chicago 3-2. It was 2-2 going into the bottom of the 8th when Satoshi Sato (8-2) coughed up a run enabling the White Sox to win. Rose went 7 5 2 2 3 6 as he's rounded into form while Jose Castillo's solo homer (#20) was the highlight on offense.

Game 2: The Rays clubbed six homers as they routed the Pale Hose 11-3 at Guaranteed Rate Field. Mario Saro, who had been in a deep slump, set the tone by leading the game off with a homer and then added another later to give him 19, and Luis Barela (#26), Akio Suzuki (#3), Jose Castillo (#21, a 3-run shot) and Doug Johns (#27) also went deep. Chris O'Brien continued on his renaissance and improved to 7-4, going 7 5 3 3 1 3.

Game 3: Tampa Bay took the rubber game from Chicago 5-3 as Greg Bookhart took over the AL lead in wins with 11 and Jose Castillo homered for the third straight game. Bookhart (11-3) wasn't dominating but did enough for the win at 5 4 3 3 2 5, and four relievers held the fort from there with Steve Falcon getting a four-out save, his 17th. Castillo's 2-run shot in the 5th turned out to be the difference as it made it 4-0 Rays.

Team record: 64-24. Next up: An off-day then we're back home for 3 vs Toronto.
