Game 1: 5-4 W. WP-Taylor (2-0). Starter-McClanahan (6 5 1 1 0 5). HR-Vazquez (3). Vazquez was in the thick of everything, with his 3-run homer giving the Rays a 4-1 lead, his error in the 9th opening the door for two Washington unearned runs to tie it, and then he won it with a walk-off RBI single in the 9th.

Game 2: 6-4 W. WP-Patino (3-1). S-Fairbanks (6). Starter-Castillo (5 9 4 4 1 6). HR-J.Jackson (5), Mears (7). Luis Castillo's Trop debut with the Rays didn't go so well as he put them in a 4-0 hole but Jeremiah Jackson brought them back, first with a solo homer to get them on the board then a bases-clearing double to put them up in the 6th.

Team record: 29-18. Good news as the Yankees dropped both their games and suddenly the division lead is up to 4 after they were in second five days ago. Next up: The return leg to Washington for 2 games.

Transaction: Taj Bradley was activated off the IL and Sandy Gaston was sent to Durham. Bradley will return to the rotation and Forrest Whitley will go back to long relief after filling in admirably as a starter.
