Obviously, we can't continue this way indefinitely, and there's a point at which we would have to abandon the license if it's preventing us from releasing the game within a reasonable amount of time. But we're not there yet; the licensing arm of the NHL has been very accommodating in trying to get this done, and we really don't want to burn that bridge unless it's a very dire situation. (And just to clear up the speculation on what the license involves: it's the NHL's logos, uniforms, and other official imagery. Not team or player names.)
As for the game itself, we're pretty much in what would normally be the final pre-release steps at this point - final testing and fixes, getting it approved for release on the various sales portals, and so on. So once we've got the OK, we should be able to move forward very quickly.

Thanks for the update. I'm somewhat surprised the NHL hasn't acted on this more expeditiously -- it's almost found money for them, even though in the scheme of their marketing bounty, I suppose it's small potatoes (or pucks). I'm in the camp that really doesn't use the things the license seemingly covers (though I understand that others -- perhaps many others -- do).
