Give me Contreras who has a good personality, can handle a pitching staff, and will add some much needed pop to the lineup. If Dingler does make the club, let him learn behind Contreras. Since he didn’t get dealt at the deadline last year maybe the Tigers can land him. Maybe he has a good relationship with Baez and he can help recruit. This is not a deep free agent class at the position. If the Tigers can’t sign Contreras then Christian Vazquez becomes a must.

Love the post, but I wanted to discuss this part. Contreras received a qualifying offer from the Cubs, which means the Tigers would stand to lose their third highest pick (3d round I believe). The 2023 draft class is shaping up to contain a lot of good to great talent, with an abundance of college players. Do you still think that's the right move?
From my viewpoint, the team is on what I like to call a "fast rebuild", but I'm not sure a guy like Contreras fits that. Then again, like you said, the Tigers need catching and the next couple of years is sorely lacking catching talent, so maybe it is the right move.
