Anybody Interested in a DB that includes fully fledged players from the Federal League?
The DB that comes with the game has OF Fielding Stats for Fed Leaguers, only. My DB, that's looked good so far, and hasn't broken anything (yet), fills in INF, P, and C fielding stats, plus batting, and pitching stats. I just hate the idea that they got turfed out of the main DB (with the exception of the OF Fielding Stats) a few years ago, never to return. I know the stats were in there before, because I saw them in my 63 year OOTP16 save, and went back to verify that recently. I can put the DB on my Google Drive, and link to it, if people are interested.
Why would I bother?
1) I'm a bit of a completist, and
2) The reason given for not including them/removing them was the poor level of competition in the Fed League.
All I have to say to #2, is that if Fred Dunlap's crazy sauce 1884 season with the St. Louis Maroons, of the Union Association, is in the default DB, then every other player in the history of baseball should be in there, too, and they're not, as it stands. If you take away Dunlap's .412 season, in 1884, he goes from a .292 career hitter, to a .276 career hitter. He had 160 Runs, 185 Hits, 39 2B, 8 3B, 13 HR, with a .412/.448/.621/1.069 slash line, a 256 OPS+/214 wRC+, and 279 TB, across 478 PA, in 101 Games. I would maintain that the level of competition in the Fed League was better than it was in both the Union Association, and the Players League, but I don't have the mathiness to prove it. The way it stands now, if/when those guys come into your game, they'll be complete fenceposts. I'll put it up, should anyone want to give it a spin.
