After Opening Day was rained out, the Pirates and Cardinals finally got to start their seasons on Friday. The result was a disappointment for Pittsburgh as the Cardinals beat the Pirates 6-2. The Pirates managed just 4 hits against St. Louis pitchers.

Mitch Keller pitched 5 effective innings, the bullpen pitched well, and Bryan De La Cruz and Jake Marisnick both homered as the Pirates won their first game of the year.

Game #4 – Monday April 11 (2nd game) – St. Louis 5, Pittsburgh 3
The Cardinals won the nightcap behind the solid pitching of Steven Matz. Tyler O'Neill's 2-run double in the 3rd made it 3-0 St. Louis. Although the Pirates rallied in the 9th, scoring a pair of runs off of Genesis Cabrera to make it a 5-3 game, Giovanny Gallegos came in and induced Michael Chavis to hit into a double play to end the game.
