TRANSACTIONS
: The Pirates claimed Danny Coulombe off waivers from Minnesota on April 30. Placed Jake Marsinick on the 10-day injured list with a tired arm. Placed Danny Coulombe on the active roster.

Optioned Cody Bolton and Lewin Diaz to AAA Indianapolis.

Decisions had to be made as rosters were reduced from 28 to 26 on May 1. Bolton was an easy choice. He can get regular work at Indianapolis and maybe be in a position to help the team.later in the season. The decision to demote Diaz was somewhat of a surprise, but the acquisition of Alec Bohm created a logjam of 1B/DH types (Vogelbach, Chavis, Bohm, and Diaz). Diaz has struggled at the plate (.192 BA, 2 HR, 3 RBI, .646 OPS) and Chavis and Bohm are both more versatile in the field.

Game #23 – May 1 – San Diego 6, Pittsburgh 0
The Padres snapped a six game losing streak as Sean Manaea pitched a gem (6 IP, 0 Runs, 5 Hits, 6 K, 2 Walks).
WP: S. Manaea (2-2)
LP: M. Keller (2-2)
Record: 13-10

TRADE:
The Pirates traded Kyle Nicholas and Tony Blanco Jr to Arizona in exchange for Jake McCarthy and Dominic Canzone.

The Diamondbacks have a surplus of outfielders and the Pirates snagged one of them. McCarthy is a fourth outfielder type with a chance to be something more. He has speed, a good eye, and is an above average defender.

Canzone is an athletic outfielder with a good eye and above average power potential according to Scouting Director R. J. Harrison.
