Barry Bonds becomes the 4th player to reach the 400 home run mark. I'm so anxious to see how the game treats Bonds through the years that correspond with the steroid years. I also have Mark McGwire in my league, so the same goes for him. I've yet to have a 50 home run guy. Wondering if Bonds or McGwire will be that guy. I'm also anxious to see what type of OBP Bonds tallies through these years.
The third player to reach 400 home runs, Reggie Jackson retires following the 2007 season. I'm at work, but I think Jackson finished with 409 career home runs.
Tony Fernandez has yet to file his retirement papers, but as play began in April 2008 he remains unsigned. He played sparingly in 2007, so I have my doubts he gets picked up. If he does, I have a feeling he may end up plodding along at the AAA level Tony has 3700+ hits for his career.
Hank Aaron now has a chance to pass Fernandez and become the leagues all time hit leader. Aaron has 3600+ hits. Aaron is steadily moving down the San Francisco batting order hitting 7th or 8th more often than not. He even gets pinch hit for now at times. 700 home runs is not going to happen, but 650 may be reachable. Mel Ott continues to stay on Aaron's tail in the all time home run race.
