September 24th, 1990
Back in San Francisco.
The Padres are pitching Bryn Smith (19-6, 2.83).
The Giants have Roy Smith (9-5, 3.70).
I have gone only 9 for 48, or .188, against their Smith.
I am hitting third.
I came up with two out in the 1st and grounded out to Tom Quinlan at 3rd.
I made a nice catch on a Tom Dodd liner for the 1st out in the 3rd.
I led off in the 4th and managed a walk.
Stolen base #131.
I was left at 2nd.
The Padres opened the scoring in the 5th when Dodd crossed on an Ozzie Guillen single.
Padres lead 1-0
With man on in the 6th, Matt brought in John Burkett.
I came up with one out in the 6th and grounded out back to Smith.
Mark Williamson took over for us in the 9th.
I made a great play on a Guillen grounder for the 2nd out.
Unfortunately, Mark couldn't shut the door and Smith ended up scoring on a Tony Gwynn single.
Padres lead 2-0
I led off the bottom of the 9th against Bob Patterson.
I struck out. (My 50th on the season.)
We were shut out.
I went 0 for 3 with a walk.
