2302 CBO Playoffs - Association Championships

Ugh! I hit the wrong button and simmed further ahead than I wanted to. That means that the Sole Survivor Series preview will be a little different. But first, I do have the Association Championships simmed with results...

Game 1: FtH 5 at NB 7

Party Boys Rally Past Silver Shroud to Claim 1-0 Series Lead

The Nordhagen Beach Party Boys powered past the visiting Fort Hagen Silver Shroud, 7-5, in the opener of the Association Championship at Slocum's Joe Seaside Stadium today. Nordhagen Beach first baseman Dustin Mart went 2 for 5 with a home run, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3, to lead the charge. The Party Boys now lead the series 1-0.

The game came to a dramatic end. In the bottom of the ninth, with Nordhagen Beach trailing 5-4, Mart hit a fastball from Jim Livermore for a 3-run home run, giving the Party Boys the walk-off win.

"Things broke our way today and that's great," Party Boys manager Matt Ballhawk Getman said. "It's important, though, to stay focused and not pat yourself on the back too much. We aren't done yet."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Slocum's Joe Seaside Stadium.

Game 2: FtH 3 at NB 2

Silver Shroud Clip Party Boys 3-2 in ACS Contest

The Fort Hagen Silver Shroud topped the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys by the score of 3-2 and moved into a 1-1 tie in the Association Championship today. The largest share of the credit belongs to Fort Hagen starter Brent Hooker, who threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball in the win.

Fort Hagen used the clutch hitting of David Driftwood to capture the win. The right fielder drilled a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Silver Shroud ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a big one.

"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Driftwood.

Game 3 is scheduled for Friday at Hubris Comics Park.

Game 3: NB 4 at FtH 7

Fort Hagen Wins at Home to Take 2-1 Lead in ACS

Riding the 4-hit performance of second baseman Mark Miller, the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud stopped the visiting Nordhagen Beach Party Boys, 7-4, in Game 3 of the Association Championship today. Miller was 4-5 with 4 singles for the Silver Shroud, who now lead the best-of-7 series, 2 games to 1.

Bixton Moore dealt the Party Boys a blow in the bottom of the first. Batting with the bases loaded and Fort Hagen leading 1-0, Moore, who is a two-time All-Star, hit a 0-2 changeup for a 2-run double.

"We'll savor this win," Miller told the Fort Hagen News, "then get ready for the next game."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Hubris Comics Park.

Game 4: NB 3 at FtH 1

Nordhagen Beach Win to Pull Even With Fort Hagen
The Nordhagen Beach Party Boys topped the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud by the score of 3-1 and moved into a 2-2 tie in the Association Championship today. The largest share of the credit belongs to Nordhagen Beach starter Beachboy Nut, who threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball in the win.

Nordhagen Beach relied on the hitting of Jonathan Angelou to pick up the win. The right fielder clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Party Boys on top, 2-0. For the game, Angelou had 1 home run and 2 singles in 4 at-bats.

"I got everyone together and told them they did great today," Nordhagen Beach manager Matt Ballhawk Getman told BNN reporters after the game. "But I warned them that even if we make it out of the Association Championship, it's only going to get harder."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Hubris Comics Park in Boston.

Game 5: NB 2 at FtH 8

Pivotal Game 5 Goes to Host Silver Shroud, 8-2

Fort Hagen Silver Shroud right fielder David Driftwood was the difference-maker at Hubris Comics Park today, as he led his club to victory in a pivotal Game 5 of the Association Championship. The Silver Shroud took the 8-2 win over the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys to seize a 3-2 lead in the best-of-7 series.

Well Done Dungan, the Fort Hagen shortstop, contributed a 2-run single in the bottom of the fourth inning to make the score 5-1, Silver Shroud. For the game, Dungan was 2-5 with a triple. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3.

"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Driftwood.

The next game is set to be played for Tuesday, September 23rd , 2302 at Slocum's Joe Seaside Stadium in Nordhagen Beach.

Game 6: FtH 2 at NB 3

Raucous Slocum's Joe Seaside Stadium Crowd Propels Party Boys to 3-2 Victory; Series Tied at 3

The Nordhagen Beach Party Boys and the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud will take the Association Championship to a decisive 7th game. In a must-win situation today, the Party Boys beat the Silver Shroud 3-2 at Slocum's Joe Seaside Stadium to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Nordhagen Beach right-hander Tommy Beach had a big role in the win. He threw 7.0 innings of 6-hit ball.

Maxx Murtagh had a critical at-bat with one out in the bottom of the sixth for Nordhagen Beach. He came through with a solo home run to put Nordhagen Beach in front, 3-1.

"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Nordhagen Beach skipper Matt Ballhawk Getman.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Slocum's Joe Seaside Stadium.

Game 7: FtH 2 at NB 3

Nordhagen Beach Takes Association Championship in Deciding Game

The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat were on full display tonight at Slocum's Joe Seaside Stadium as the Association Championship stretched to the final game.

It was the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys feeling the thrill of victory, with a 3-2 win over the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud, who were feeling the devastation of coming up short in their quest to make the Sole Survivor Series.

"There's no way around it -- this sucks," said Fort Hagen manager Belch Melcher. "Congratulations to Nordhagen Beach, but I won't sugarcoat it, no one is happy about anything that transpired here tonight."

Instrumental in the 4-3 series win was right fielder Jonathan Angelou, who was named MVP. He hit .400 with a .516 on-base percentage. He had 4 home runs, drove in 6 RBI and scored 6 runs.

"We've got the most important stat of all and that's this final win -- that's the one that matters," he said.

The Nordhagen Beach Party Boys don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the University Point Deathclaws - Jamaica Plain Red Rockets series. The Sole Survivor Series schedule will be announced after the Association Championship finishes.

Game 1: UP 2 at JP 3, 10 inn.

Red Rockets, Deathclaws Play 10 to Settle Game 1, Jamaica Plain Now Leads Series 1-0

When the games really matter, the Jamaica Plain Red Rockets put on their best show, beating the University Point Deathclaws by a final score of 3-2 today. Phlip Wallace threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball. Jamaica Plain now leads University Point 1-0 in the best-of-7 affair.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when Jamaica Plain third baseman Notorious Fugate, facing Chase Southie, had a run-scoring single. It gave the Red Rockets the 3-2 win.

"There's no quit in this team," said Red Rockets manager Mark Sellsword.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Red Rockets Stadium in Jamaica Plain.

Game 2: UP 18 at JP 2

Luttrell, Deathclaws Wallop Red Rockets in Game 2 of ACS

University Point center fielder Jukebox Luttrell produced all the offense the Deathclaws would need today in the club's 18-2 win over the Jamaica Plain Red Rockets.

Luttrell went 3-5 with a home run and a triple, while scoring 3 and driving in 4, while University Point moved into a tie in the Association Championship. The Deathclaws and Red Rockets are now even at 1-1 in the best-of-7 series.

University Point relied on the hitting of Ryan Morris to pick up the win. The third baseman clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Deathclaws on top, 2-0. For the game, Morris had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"We were firing on all cylinders today," said Deathclaws manager Woody Lumpkin.

Game 3 is scheduled for Saturday at Gwinnett Brewery Park in University Point.

Deathclaws Clip Red Rockets 2-1 in ACS Contest

A strong performance from pitcher Chris Teddybear was not enough for the Jamaica Plain Red Rockets, who were stopped by the visiting University Point Deathclaws, 2-1, in Game 3 of the Association Championship. The Deathclaws never truly figured out the right-handed Teddybear, who threw 6.0 innings of shutout ball. Still, the Deathclaws now hold a 2-1 in the best-of-7 series.

Shawn Cherry took T-Bone Heagy deep in the bottom of the seventh. His 2-run home run put the Deathclaws on top, 2-1. In all, Cherry had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 3.

"We'll enjoy this win," said Cherry. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Gwinnett Brewery Park.

Game 4: JP 3 at UP 4

Almost There: University Point On Cusp of ACS Triumph After 4-3 Win

The University Point Deathclaws moved to within one game of the Sole Survivor Series today, downing the visiting Jamaica Plain Red Rockets at Gwinnett Brewery Park by a score of 4-3. Deathclaws right fielder Tomas Jones did some major damage. He went 3-4 with a home run and a triple. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. The win gives the Deathclaws a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-7 Association Championship.

The game was all tied up in the bottom of the eighth, until Jones delivered big-time for University Point, stroking a dramatic run-scoring triple off Doug Dee El. The game-changing hit put the Deathclaws on top, 4-3.

Jamaica Plain manager Mark Sellsword said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Gwinnett Brewery Park.

Game 5: JP 9 at UP 2

Robinson, Red Rockets Wallop Deathclaws in Game 5 of ACS

The Jamaica Plain Red Rockets have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading University Point Deathclaws, winning 9-2 at Gwinnett Brewery Park today. Red Rockets pinch hitter Jason Robinson was 1 for 1 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. The win cuts the deficit facing the Red Rockets to 3-2 in the best-of-7 Association Championship.

The game turned with two out in the top of the fourth when Robinson, who finished 2nd in the SCA in RBI with 99 in 2300, hit a grand slam home run. It propelled the Red Rockets into the lead, 4-1.

"It feels good, just a great win all around," Robinson said after the game.

Game 6 is scheduled for Wednesday at Red Rockets Stadium.

Game 6: UP 2 at JP 4

Red Rockets Even With Deathclaws After Home Win

The Jamaica Plain Red Rockets and the University Point Deathclaws will take the Association Championship to a decisive 7th game. In a must-win situation today, the Red Rockets beat the Deathclaws 4-2 at Red Rockets Stadium to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. "The hot tub feels extra good after a solid win," said Teddybear.

Game 7: UP 9 at JP 5

Deathclaws Prevail, as Association Championship Goes to the Wire

The sweet swing of Tomas Jones has led his team through the Association Championship.

The University Point Deathclaws star earned series MVP honors as his club downed the Jamaica Plain Red Rockets to advance to the Sole Survivor Series.

The Deathclaws won the final game at Red Rockets Stadium by a score of 9-5 and the series 4-3.

"I'm seeing the ball well and happy to contribute to a win," said Jones. "I hope it continues for the rest of the playoffs. Now I get to face my old teammates in Nordhagen Beach, too."

For the series, Jones hit .355 with a .394 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, drove in 10 RBI and scored 7 runs.

The University Point Deathclaws will play against the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys in the next round. Nordhagen Beach won their series against the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud 4 games to 3. The Sole Survivor Series schedule will be announced after the Association Championship finishes.
