The Cardinals just signed their young catcher Ted Simmons to an 8 year deal, I guess free agency starts next year. I haven't seen anything longer than a 2 year deal before this,

Overall, the amount of players on the trade block is ridiculous.
Seaver, Reggie, Morgan, Blue, Fingers, Ryan, Blyleven, Bench, Carew, Perez, just to start.
