10/16 - Breakball Named Top Reliever for NCA: They say you can't teach an old dog new tricks, but in the case of Matt Breakball of the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys, you don't have to - his old tricks worked just fine in 2302.

The 34-year-old veteran turned in a sparkling performance and has won the North Charles Association Fallon's Reliever Award.

He captured the award with 37 saves in 50 relief appearances, 55 strikeouts and 18 walks in 52 innings. He put up a record of 6-2 to go with his 0.69 ERA.

He received 23 first place votes out of a possible 24. Ted Iam of the Lexington Synths finished second in voting with 1 first place vote, while Larry Undertaker of the Starlight Lady Killers finished third.

10/16 - Suds Gets Award for Relief Work: Matt Suds has won the 2302 South Charles Association Fallon's Reliever Award, which at age 35 is a "milestone achievement" for the University Point Deathclaws reliever.

"I feel accomplished to win this when there are other younger, stronger, harder-throwing guys out there," he said.


The Milton, Massachusetts native's numbers speak for themselves, as he captured the award with no saves in 43 relief appearances, compiling 56 innings. He had 47 strikeouts and 14 walks, a record of 7-1 and an ERA of 2.25.

He received 16 first place votes out of a possible 24. Doug Dee El of the Jamaica Plain Red Rockets finished second in voting with 8 first place votes, while Danny Scorcher of the Atom Cats finished third.

10/18 - Warwick Top Rookie in 2302: Paul Warwick, shortstop for the Sunshine Tidings Chemists, has won the North Charles Association Red Rocket Rookie Award for 2302 after putting up a good freshman year.

In 109 games, Warwick hit at a .263 clip with 103 hits in 392 at-bats and 7 home runs, drove in 46 runs and scored 44 times.

He received 24 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Ross Merchantman of the Lexington Synths finished second in voting, while Urm Rehfeldt of the County Crossing Bloodbugs finished third.

10/18 - Atom Second Baseman Voted Top SCA Rookie: Rabbit Forest put together some impressive numbers for Atom to garner enough votes for the South Charles Association Red Rocket Rookie Award.

The Cats second baseman took the honor by hitting .276 in 92 games this season and finishing with 95 hits, 7 home runs, 39 RBIs and 60 runs scored.

He received 24 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Whokill Poole of the Roxbury Rad Sox finished second in voting, while Purple Gupta of the Roxbury Rad Sox finished third.

10/19 - Egret's Staples Sells Team: The Egret Ninjas organization have announced today that owner Ron Staples has sold the team to the WRVR group led by Anne Hargraves. Hargraves will take over control of the team immediately after the caps distribution has been sold. Staples plans to return to commerce for his remaining days.

According to a report released on WRVR, Hargraves said, "We're excited to shift our role in the Commonwealth Baseball League. While we are maintaining our commitment to the CBO and broadcasting games across the league, we also will launch a secondary broadcast that will be 24-7 Ninjas baseball. Stay tuned for WEGR coming in early 2303."

Asked in an interweb interview if she had plans to make changes in the coaching staff and player personnel, Hargraves noted that every part of the franchise would be evaluated.

"We'll be aggressive in building a winner," she wrote.

10/19 - NCA Manager of the Year Award Given to Getman: When Matt Ballhawk Getman was hired to lead the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys, fans were expecting improvement over the last manager. Today, flanked by team officials, Getman accepted the North Charles Association Manager of the Year Award, noting the level of passion for the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys.

"The biggest challenge was the fans. I don't know how many times I was asked, if I thought the club was good enough. It was as if they expected failure. It was much easier to win over the ballplayers. Slowly but surely the fans began to believe in us."

Getman led Nordhagen Beach to a first place finish in the North Charles Association Brotherhood League. The Party Boys ended up with a 73-35 record.

Getman is looking forward to the offseason. "We're reviewing our options. You never stand still in baseball. You either get better or worse, 'cause everyone else is out to get your free agents or deal for your prospects. It's going to be a challenge." But the skipper has more than proven he is equal to the task.

10/19 - SCA Top Skipper is Lumpkin of University Point: University Point manager Woody Lumpkin caused quite a stir when he came to town. Noted for his feisty, no-nonsense attitude, Lumpkin threw his all into the 2302 campaign, winning over critics and fans as he went. He also won a few ballgames, running up a 64-44 record, which was good enough to take the second place spot in the South Charles Association Minutemen League standings.

"These guys are grown men. They don't need psychobabble, they need to win ballgames," Lumpkin snapped at his first press conference. While his approach was controversial, even for University Point, it netted the 41-year-old the South Charles Association Manager of the Year trophy. In response to which he replied, "It ain't molecular physics, it's baseball," and began discussing potential free agents with the local media.

10/20 - Top NCA Pitcher for 2302 Named: The Nordhagen Beach Party Boys have a rising superstar or maybe even a budding Hall-of-Famer in the making.
It's Beachboy Nut, this year's North Charles Association Vim! Pitcher Award selection. This blossoming hurler wowed fans, peers and sportswriters with a fabulous performance.

Nut compiled a 17-6 record in 26 starts, tallied 169 strikeouts in 200.2 innings and recorded a 2.20 ERA. Other clubs managed only a .231 batting average against him.

He received 24 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Chet Arthur of the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys finished second in voting, while Gavin Eviritts of the County Crossing Bloodbugs finished third.

10/20 - Taguchi of Atom Named Best Pitcher: The 2302 South Charles Association Vim! Pitcher Award has gone to Atom Cats ace Scruffy Taguchi after a stellar 13-8 season.

In 28 starts he piled up 178.1 innings, 129 strikeouts, 47 walks and a 2.78 ERA. Taguchi held opposing hitters to a .231 batting average.

He received 22 first place votes out of a possible 24. X10-44 Mannson of the Diamond City Swatters finished second in voting with 2 first place votes, while Chris Teddybear of the Jamaica Plain Red Rockets finished third.

Hard work, long hours and a tireless resolve paid off for him today in the form of the North Charles Association Nuka-Hitter Award.

Pawlak hit for a .329 average while collecting 141 hits, 23 doubles, 7 triples, 26 home runs, 84 RBIs and scoring 92 times.

10/21 - Bussey Selected SCA's Best Player: He may have less experience than most of his Commonwealth Baseball Organization peers, but that didn't slow Earthbound Bussey down at all in 2302.

At the age of 23, the Atom center fielder has been named the winner of the South Charles Association Nuka-Hitter Award.

He had a .324 batting average and a .429 on-base percentage this year. In 108 games he piled up 136 hits, 30 doubles, 3 triples, 11 home runs, 39 RBIs and 92 runs scored.

"I'm blown away by the season I was able to put together," he said. "I'm looking forward to trying to do it all again next year."

He received 14 first place votes out of a possible 24. Jake Doucette of the Atom Cats finished second in voting with 4 first place votes, while Barker Cocoa of the University Point Deathclaws finished third with 3 first place votes.
