The
Hillsboro Blazers (83-71) had a good year... actually a fine year by their standards... they came in 4th, finishing just 5 games back of first place South Fork... who knows what might have happened in the race if they had played better baseball in May when they lost a lot of ground to to rivals South Fork and Tuckanarra... the Blazers fell 8 games out and never caught up... they did close the season well... things may be looking up for Hillsboro... historically, they have a crummy history with only 2 pennants in 76 seasons and no Pro Cups... the most recent was in 2067... in those 2 playoff seasons, the Blazers lost to the eventual Pro Cup champions, Arlon in '51 and Rolling Hills in '67... they pushed both champs to the limit... 7-game series... currently, there are no super hitters on the Blazers, but Dave Thomas, Aron Bloomendale, Arthyr Freeman, Kenny Hatfield and Buddy Assendorp can score runs... and the mound staff is pretty good with the likes of Herb Adamson, Beau Doane and Tony Verdenelli... Hillsboro could only be a batter or pitcher away from being a serious challenger in the TU East.
