Remarkably rookies led both leagues in WAR with Yankee Cuban defector Ernesto Rodriguez lapping the field in the AL and the Dodgers' Alex Hicks, an independent league signee, topping the NL. Quite a few league leaders on the Rays meanwhile.
It's a measure of how good Marlette and DiCostanzo are that we finished 2nd in the AL in starter ERA despite the rest of the rotation having ERAs closer to 5 than to 4. It was a weird staff as we walked a lot of people and of course the defense was horrid.
Quite the offense with 6 guys at 4 WAR or better. Contreras was a mild disappointment at catcher, although if you combine him with Cartaya you get another 4 WAR.
A pair of aces and lot of mix and match. One could make the argument that Morales and Prosecky weren't that bad but that they were victimized a poor defense given their .350 or so BABIPs and you wouldn't be wrong. Mendes on the other hand had a normal BABIP but those 82 walks were killers. The staff did an outstanding job of keeping the ball in the park.
