This is where I like the fact that if you can get Barry Larkin and Tony Fernandez on your team in 1990 you do not trade one of them because you have two SS. You move one of them to 2B and you have a great defensive infield.

The same could not be said though if you had Sandberg and Whitaker. Moving a true 2B to play SS is not going to help you defensively.

The same applies to CF vs LF and RF. If you can get two good CF on your team and move one of them to RF you are in business.

It is actually quite difficult to get two good SS or two good CF on your team though due to scarcity at the positions.
