April 12-14, 2033: vs San Antonio (3)

The Rays took 2 of 3 from the Alamos to continue their good start to the season.

The opener though was one of those games as San Antonio won 4-2 while the Rays piled up the hits but couldn't get the man home. They had 13 baserunners but the only two who scored came on solo homers from Arturo Gutierrez (#3) and Kelly Crumpton (#2). Wes Mendes (0-1) struggled again at 5.1 5 4 4 2 5.

The second game was a rollercoaster as the Rays fell behind early, came back to take the lead, blew the lead, and then pulled out a 7-6 win over the Alamos by scoring twice in the bottom of the 9th. Kelly Crumpton's RBI double, his third hit of the night, tied it and Orlando Tosado's sac fly brought home the winner. Tosado earlier hit his first homer of the season, Billy Carlow went deep with #5 and Arturo Gutierrez homered again for his 4th. Chris Ferguson's second Rays start wasn't as successful as the first as he went 5 5 4 4 1 2 and Frankely Guzman won his first 2033 decision after pitching the 9th.

Transaction: Cristian Hernandez was activated and Mu-Sang Park was optioned to Durham.

Things were more comfortable for Tampa Bay in the rubber game as they scored 7 times by the 3rd inning and went on to an 8-2 win. Bad boy Nate Strickland had a huge game with three hits and four RBI including a 3-run shot (#3) in the 3rd to lead the offense while Kelly Crumpton had 2 more hits including an RBI single and is hitting a cool .477. Cristian Hernandez also returned to action with an RBI double. Joe Marlette (1-0) was solid at 6 4 2 2 2 6 for the win.

Team record: 7-3. Next up: Toronto, which is 1/2 game ahead of us at 8-3, comes to town for 3.
