to Canuck:
i think silvam14 concerning inclines with Minute Maid in Houston with the hill set the fence posts so that the fielders do not go into the hill waist deep. it is a good tradeoff.
just for fun, and i mentioned this to asrivkin, how about somebody doing a really old fictional field set just after the civil war?
i mean, imagine little house on the prairie type field with:
no real skinned infielders areas, just kind of worn basepaths
no real skinned home plate area, just kind of worn batter and catcher areas
no real skinned pitchers mound, just kind of worn pitcher area
no fences to speak of. perhaps a house or barn or corral here or there. i think that one can get by with setting "fences" at 1 foot if one does not want to see the ball roll 600 feet.
options could be:
1. little house on the prairie field
2. wild west field just outside OK Corral
3. civil war era camping grounds
4. 1800s urban with broken windows possible
can one make a field without the traditional infield? imagine just paths between bases. imagine a pick up game set in 1866.
