If you set them as a two-way player in the strategy settings, there's an option there to skip DH on days they pitch. Then when you go to play (or when the games sim), they will be in the lineup. Also note there's a league option to have them remain as DH after they exit as SP in those situations as a league option that's on by default for the modern game.
