MLB has moved to calling games early. Just last week, the Phillies postponed their home opener from Thursday afternoon, which ended up warm and mostly sunny, to Friday, which was raw and cold. They got bad information on the timing of storms.
For the record, in MLB, through April 7th, 2023, there have been 5 postponed games out of 116 intended games (this includes rescheduled games). That's 4.3%.

In contrast, the International League, through April 7th, has had 14 postponed games out of 77 intended games (18.2%), while the Pacific Coast League has had 4 postponed games out of 37 intended games (10.8%). These percentages will of course drop as the season progresses and the weather gets better.

In terms of games called early, in the 2022 MLB season, there were 10 games called early out of 2,430 games played. That's 0.4%. The shortest game was just 27 outs; the longest, 48 outs. The average was 37.5, the median 36.
