I see no reason to use Gresham's Law to drive sports that have NOT turned their athletes into walking billboards down to the depths of minor-league footie teams. Our leagues make more than enough $$$ from tickets and concessions and broadcasting rights that they hardly need to cadge the spare nickels and dimes.
You may be inured by constant commercialization, but imagine if something you'd enjoyed your entire life without ads (Peacock Island, the Atta Cave, apple strudel, Michael Fassbinder and/or Claudia Schiffer) was suddenly plastered with stickers, for no relevant purpose other than a minor dollop of greed. You'd feel an ęsthetic revulsion then too, I'd imagine. JMO.
