Cards news: April 21 -- Slow start sparks roster moves
Off to a 4-12 start to the season, including a current nine-game losing streak, the St. Louis Cardinals have made some roster moves going into their series against the Milwaukee Brewers.
Being sent to Memphis are outfielder Jordan Walker and right-handed reliever Conner Lunn.
Getting called to the majors are shortstop Masyn Winn and outfielder Tre Fletcher.
Walker, a top-rated prospect who has continually struggled during his opportunities to play in the majors.
This year, he has played in 16 games and batted just .161 with two homers and six RBIs.
Lunn, who is currently dealing with a strained oblique, got into two games for the Cardinals working 2.2 scoreless innings.
Unable to win the starting job at shortstop in spring training, Winn, 23, began the season at AAA Memphis.
In 15 games, he has hit .293 with two homers and seven RBIs.
The 23-year-old Fletcher played 37 games in the majors in 2024.
This season at AAA, he has hit .306 with two homers and two RBIs.
