Cards news: April 22 -- Elbow injury will end season for Bummer
The St. Louis Cardinals have announced that left-handed relief pitcher Aaron Bummer will miss the remainder of the season with a torn flexor tendon in his pitching arm.
The 31-year-old suffered the injury in a 7-3 loss to Washington on April 19.
In seven games this season, Bummer had gone 1-2 with a 9.95 ERA.
He is expected to be out for at least a year.
Getting called from AA is 31-year-old left-hander Jeff Singer.
Singer has pitched in three games for the Cardinals posting no record in a 2.16 ERA.
He has pitched in 60 games at the major-league level, all for Oakland, going 3-10 with a 5.67 ERA.
