State of the Team

NOTE: I will use (x, y) to describe a player's current rating and potential rating, respectively, out of 5 stars.

May did not go much better, despite Josh Naylor and James Karinchak returning from starting the season on the IL. Trevor Stephan was optioned to AAA and Yu Chang was DFAd and subsequently assigned to AAA. The team is 16-33 and buried in last place of a competitive AL Central that has the 26-23 Royals in 4th place. Triston McKenzie was struggling and had a moderate day-to-day shoulder injury, so I placed him on the IL to give him a chance to get back on his feet, calling up SP Peyton Battenfield (2.5, 3) to replace him. Shane Bieber and Emmanuel Clase are also uncharacteristically struggling, with Bieber having a 5.51 ERA and 4.00 FIP mostly propelled by a 1.7 HR/9, despite excellent K/BB numbers, and Clase having a 7.07 ERA and 5.8 K/9. The bright side is that Jose Ramirez is on fire and has a 162 OPS+.
