All-Star Break News Roundup
All-Star Roster News
Unsurprisingly, our lone All-Star was Jose Ramirez, who is tied for the AL Lead in HR with 29, is 3rd in OPS with .979 behind Mike Trout and Vladimir Guerrero Jr, and is 3rd in WAR with 4.3 behind Mike Trout and Carlos Correa. The most unexpected nods for the roster around the league were:
AL:
SP Chris Flexen: 2.57 ERA
SP Jameson Taillon: 3.58 ERA
SS Adalberto Mondesi: 155 wRC+
LF Austin Hays: 118 wRC+, 2.3 WAR
CF Chas McCormick: 156 wRC+
RF Mitch Haniger: 172 wRC+
NL:
SP Steven Matz: 3.26 ERA
SP Zack Wheeler: 5.03 ERA
1B Frank Schwindel: 135 wRC+
3B Mike Moustakas: 130 wRC+
SS Oneil Cruz: 98 wRC+
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. won the HR Derby and J.D. Martinez won All-Star Game MVP in the AL's 8-0 victory.
For the Prospect All-Star Game, however, we had three prospects make it, being SP Daniel Espino (2, 3, #26 Overall), C Bo Naylor (1.5, 3.5, #80 Overall), and LF George Valera (2, 4.5, #56 Overall).
News Dump
Our pitching coach was fired and replaced by Bryce Bence, who is "LEGENDARY" at teaching pitching and "Good" at handling development. He works best with groundballers, a contrast to our prior pitching coach who worked best with power pitchers.
Next up, the Trade Deadline.
