Cards news: August 25 -- Winn placed on injured list; Rivas called up from AAA Memphis
The St. Louis Cardinals have placed shortstop Masyn Winn on the seven-day injured list after he suffered back stiffness which forced him to exit a 7-4 loss to Pittsburgh on August 24.
Winn, 23, has split time between AAA Memphis and St. Louis this season.
With the Cardinals, he has played 95 games and hit .212 with five homers, 32 RBIs and 35 runs scored.
Getting called up from Memphis is 22-year-old infielder Jeremy Rivas.
Rivas has split time this season between AA Springfield and AAA Memphis.
At AA, he played 76 games and hit .304 with 12 homers, 39 RBIs and 46 runs scored.
For the Redbirds, in 47 games, Rivas has hit .273 with three homers, 13 RBIs and 24 runs scored.
