What a game...
Excitement abounded at Tropicana Field as
Billy Carlow homered in the bottom of the 9th to tie a game the Rays had trailed at one point 6-3 and
CJ Abrams walked it off in the bottom of the 11th with a biggest hit as a Ray, a homer leading off the inning. After Tampa Bay took a 1-0 lead after an inning things went downhill fast as
Kevin DiCostanzo was not good at all, giving up 4 runs on 8 hits including a pair of homers and the Rays found themselves in the hole against former teammate Shane Panzini. They did get a couple back off him, and
Wander Franco brought them with one with a 2-run homer in the 7th to set up the late heroics. Speaking of heroic,
Slade Cecconi went three hitless innings to keep the Tigers at bay and
Eric Lewis went two perfect in extras to record the win.
Chris Ferguson will try tomorrow to put us up 2-0.
