Game Summary
Texas struck first again on a RBI single by Danny Jansen in the 2nd, and Marcus Semien did the same an inning later to make it 2-0. However, the Guardians' offense continued its tendency for big innings, as Matt Vierling, Andres Gimenez, and Kyle Tucker went back-to-back-to-back to make it 3-2 Guardians, the second instance of back-to-back-to-back HRs by the Guardians of the postseason. They came right back an inning later as Jose Ramirez led off the 4th with a solo shot as Sean Hjelle finally settled in. The Guardians gave themselves another chance in the 5th by loading the bases with nobody out for Kyle Tucker, who cleared the bases with a double into the right field corner. The Guardians scored for the fourth-consecutive inning in the 6th on a RBI single by Andres Gimenez before the Rangers finally got one back on a Bubba Thompson HR. The Rangers wouldn't quit from there, as Nick Solak homered three batters later to make it 8-5, forcing Sean Hjelle out of the game. The Royals then brought the tying run to the plate against Emmanuel Clase in the 8th, but Clase struck out Bubba Thompson and Danny Jansen to extinguish the threat. Andres Gimenez kept the Cleveland crowd loose with a RBI single to add a big insurance run before Kyle Tucker put the game on ice with a 2-run double down the left field line to make it 11-5. Defensive replacement Oscar Mercado even got in on the action with a double down the line to plate Tucker, and the inning finally ended when Jose Ramirez flew out to the warning track. Clase closed it out in his second inning of work, giving the Guardians a 2-0 ALCS lead after another rambunctious effort by the offense.
