2025 Opening Day Preview
State of the Team
The team went 18-7 in Spring Training, the best record in MLB, showing early signs that the big moves made this offseason will translate into a juggernaut come regular season. Unfortunately, the team will be entering the season without some key members...
News Dump
1B J.C. Correa will miss 3-4 months of the regular season with a severe hip strain. It feels even worse trading away Vinnie Pasquantino now, but Bo Naylor will get the starting job at 1B after a very strong spring and with my head scout still being high on him.
RP Emmanuel Clase will miss 2-3 months of the regular season with a partially-torn labrum. The bullpen thankfully has the depth it needs to go on without him, but it is a big blow nontheless and we hope his career is not set back because of it.
SS Jermaine Palacios will miss the first week of the season with a hamstring strain, opening the door for some other players on the bubble to make cases to stay on when he gets back. He is expected to go on a rehab assignment for this season.
1B Nolan Jones (2.0, 2.0) and 2B Ernie Clement (1.5, 1.5) were DFA'd in preparation for the Opening Day Roster. Rule 5 Draft picks RP Justin Hagenman (3.0, 3.0) and CF Jordyn Adams (2.0, 2.5) were also returned to their original teams. The remaining members of the Spring Training Roster who did not make the Opening Day roster were optioned.
