MLB news: Sept. 27 -- Atlanta bound for postseason for eighth consecutive year
The Atlanta Braves clinched their eighth consecutive playoff berth with a 6-1 win over Miami on Sept. 27.
At 89-65, the Braves lead the National League East Division by nine games over second-place Washington with eight games remaining in the season.
The Braves will find it impossible to overtake the NL West-leading Los Angeles Dodgers for the overall top seed in the NL.
L.A., at 97-58, leads Atlanta by 7.5 games for the best overall record in the NL.
The Dodgers, however, lead San Francisco by just two games in the NL West.
The postseason berth is the eighth in a row for the Braves. They have been NL East Division champion seven times in that span.
