MLB news: Oct. 5 -- Minnesota and Houston claim final AL playoff berths
The Houston Astros and Minnesota Twins sewed up the final two spots in the field for the American League playoffs in the final day of the postseason.
The Twins fell 7-4 to the Detroit Tigers while the Astros defeated the New York Yankees.
Both teams finished the season with 88-74 records.
For Houston, the Astros are back in the playoffs after missing out in 2024.
Prior to that, they had made the postseason for seven straight seasons.
The Twins will be playing in deeper October for the second straight year.
Minnesota also was a wild card in 2024.
Unsure of the tie-breaker, we'll know tomorrow the first-round playoff matchups.
