Blake Snell pitched well for the Padres, but Roansy Contreras and the Pirates bullpen pitched better. Contreras went five innings and allowed 1 run and 7 hits. Tom Cosgrove, Nick Nears, and Yerry De Los Santos combined for 4 shutout innings. Cole Cummings jacked a 2-run home run.in the top of the 4th inning to put Pittsburgh ahead 2-1. Mac Horvath hit a run-scoring double in the 5th, his 1st hit as a Pirate.

The Pirates won their 5th game in a row, walloping the Brown Bears 13-0. Gabriel Arias had 4 hits in 4 bats, including a home run, a double, two singles, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs. Pete Crow-Armstrong hit a grand slam in the top of the 7th, putting the Pirates ahead 9-0.

Jace Jung's solo home run in the top of the 9th tied the game at 2. Masayoshi Oshima drew a bases- loaded walk in the 13th to put the Pirates ahead. Pittsburgh's pitching was outstanding. Shane Bieber pitched 7 Innings allowing 2 unearned runs, and 4 relievers combined to shutout the Brown Bears over the last 6 innings.
