After winning the World Series, the Phillies are selling and Thurman Munson is available for our 2b, David Rusco. I will do this deal, so now I am trading recently signed Bill Freehan (sorry, Bill) for a 35-year old quality reliever and #92 prospect Roger Erickson to open up the C position for Munson and I have Ivan DeJesus already at 2b, so the loss there will be negligible.
Yes, Munson is 31 and has 6 years left on the deal he signed with Yankees 2 years ago. But he just won the World Series for the 2nd time, he's won 6 Gold Gloves and is an 8-time All-Star.
With my increased payroll from the owner, I still have room to add 1 more quality player. He wants an All-Star 3rd baseman.
