Cards news: March 1 -- C Salvador Perez agrees to minor-league contract
The St. Louis Cardinals have announced the signing of veteran catcher Salvador Perez to a minor-league contract.
Perez, 35, spent the 2025 season with the New York Yankees where he hit just .193 with four homers and 13 RBIs in 32 games/24 starts.
For his career, Perez is a .266 hitter with 250 home runs and 820 RBIs.
He broke into the majors in 2011 and played with the Royals through the 2024 season when he signed a free-agent contract with the Yankees.
Perez will be given the opportunity to compete for the backup catcher job behind Cam Gallahger.
