Mention of Ivan DeJesus and Ryne Sandburg reminds me of arguably the worst trade in history, Phillies trading Larry Bowa and Sandburg to the delighted Cubbies for DeJesus. The lesson there for me is never deal a talented young player until you are sure what you've got. And certainly not for a replacement-level guy. And don't throw in a franchise icon.
