Congrats to the Diamondbacks, who after losing last year's World Series to the Rays made it back and won it this time, ending the Rangers' Cinderella run through the playoffs as an 82-80 team.
Meanwhile a couple of Rays' farmhands were named MVPs in their respective leagues:
Arakawa was signed out of Japan last winter and had a successful debut stateside. He has MLB power, patience and speed (26 steals) but his contact tool is a bit suspect as .255 at Durham probably translates to .230-.240 in the bigs. He will get a shot next season though.
Specht isn't quite as good a prospect as Arakawa, but he's definitely overachieved his status as a 10th-round pick in 2022. He projects as a backup OF with 45 contact, 55 power, 65 speed and 60 corner OF defense.
