March 18, 1957 - Snapshot

Here is a final snapshot of the Leagues, with one week left in the regular season:
  • The playoff participants have been set well before the end of the season. The only race up in the air is for first place in the East. Cobourg and Brunswick are tied for top spot with seven games left to play. They will face each four times in the final week.

  • The home run lead also remains a tie between Wellington Athletics’ Matthew Floyd and Cambria Cannons’ Sam Tite. Both sit at 47 entering the final week of the season. Tite was the first to surpass the old season mark of 45 on March 10th against the Sherburn Tigers. He belted two home runs in that game but hasn’t hit one since. Floyd meanwhile went 18 games without hitting a home run. Finally, on March 13, he ended the drought. He has hit three more since then to catch up to Tite.
