Perhaps the jewel of the RMY auction, here's the first-ever solo portrait of the one-game NY Giants world champion:
The Giants were finishing out the regular season when Bud came down from St. Bonaventure to meet them in Philadelphia, and he played the last five innings of the first game of a double-header on the penultimate day of the year at 2nd base. Then he was sold to Indianapolis over the winter and it was all downhill from there.
A certain R.A. MacDonald (although RMY thinks the signature says "L.R. MacDonald") of the
Pittsburgh Press was in town, presumably
en route to cover the upcoming all-Polo Grounds World Series between the Giants and Yankees, and he snapped this picture of Heine. (Perhaps St. Bonaventure had played Duquesne that spring?)
We previously only had Heine in a team picture from Charles Alexander's book
John McGraw, so this is an upgrade.
