Yes, I know, I could play tournaments, and spend hours watching Twitch trying to squeeze every point and pack, but that would basically glue me to my keyboard - more of a job than a game. The game is for "investors" not F2Pers beyond the All Star game.

kinda going the same route with Waffletown this version... picked up PT+ in May and this month (heck for the 30 day price, I can't even buy a lunch for a single day so not like it's breaking the bank).... won the Silver WS last season and expected to be mediocre at best in my first Gold run this season... started out 7-19 and was prepared early for a relegation run back down.... instead my bunch went on a solid run, finished 96-66 for the top wild card spot; won the wild card 2-0, beat out division nemesis 3-1 in the LDS; won the LCS 4-1, and now await our Gold WS opponents.
for the twitch packs it's actually pretty quick/easy to get them.... I follow a number of affiliate streamers and have the app on my phone so if someone starts a stream with pack drops, I can pop it on my phone and let it run (only takes about 75 minutes to get the 5 packs)... if you aren't interested in listening to the actual stream you don't have to, but some are pretty interesting/fun (and might even giveaway more packs on top of the drops).... add on to that the official OOTP channel drops (5 more packs a day) and it adds up pretty quick (already over 550 free packs from twitch drops this year)....
for tourneys, just pick a level/style and spam the heck out of it... if you have OOTP Go on your phone, it only takes less than a minute to sign in, grab a few tourney slots and sign out... most times I get nothing from them, but have won enough quick tourneys to get a nice amount of packs there as well...
so plenty of ways for a relative F2P player to compete, and perhaps with a lucky pack pull, get a solid player for their squad (nabbed a Diamond Gehrig card last week, who should win the MVP this season if all goes right in the voting), that they can either play or sell for a nice war chest to improve their club (that Diamond Gehrig's last 10 price is almost 270K, so could bring in a huge amount selling him... but would rather have him playing for me right now)
