May 11-13, 2029: vs Washington (3)
Game 1: 2-3 L. LP-Swanda (2-2, 5.1 6 2 2 3 5). The offense could only scrape together 3 hits, although they did draw 7 walks so there were more than a few chances to score more but they didn't and it's three straight losses.
Game 2: 4-5 L. LP-Eldridge (4-2, 3 6 4 4 3 0). HR-Albies (8). Coming off a 2-hit shutout Eldridge was terrible today and although Albies' 2-run shot got them within one, they couldn't get over the hump once again.
Game 3: 4-5 L. LP-Riley (0-1). Starter-Bradley (7 5 3 3 1 6). HR-Albies (9). Groundhog Day for the Rays as they lost the fifth straight game and third of the series by a run. Looked like they might win this one when they went ahead in the 7th 4-3 but Trey Riley gave up a pair in the 8th to let the Nats prevail. This team is starting to circle the drain.
Team record: 17-21. Toronto swept its series so the Rays now find themselves 3 1/2 back, and at 17-21 we're not even looking at a wild card right now. Next up: Not getting any easier as we're off to 22-16 Philly for 3.
MLB News: Houston lost star RF (and former Ray for a season) Kyle Tucker for 6 weeks with a strained triceps.
