The New York Mets are off to the playoffs! They have clinched at the very worst a wild card spot, and they are still contending for the NL East division title. They are the fifth team to take a playoff spot, and this is their 5th consecutive playoff appearance. There are now seven spots in the playoffs left up for grabs.

In other news... the Portland Sea Dogs, the Atlanta Braves, the Minnesota Twins, and the Pittsburgh Pirates have been eliminated from playoff contention. Subtracting the teams that have already clinched a spot in the playoffs, 20 teams mathematically remain in the hunt.
