The St. Louis Cardinals have placed left-handed relief pitcher Andrew Chafin on the 15-day injured list after he suffered a partially torn labrum in a 13-7 10-inning loss to the New York Mets on August 21.
Chafin, 36, has pitched in 48 games for the Cardinals this season going 0-3 with one save and a 4.25 ERA in 48 games.
Getting called up from AAA Memphis is 32-year-old left-hander Jeff Singer.
Singer has spent the entire season with AAA Memphis.
He's pitched in 30 games going 2-1 with three saves and a 1.22 ERA.
