Cards news: August 24 -- Schwarber to injured list; IF Billings called up from AAA
The St. Louis Cardinals have placed designated hitter Karl Schwarber on the 10-day injured list after he suffered a broken foot during a 10-3 loss to the New York Mets on August 23.
In 101 games/92 starts this season, Schwarber has hit .235 with 21 home runs and 53 RBIs.
He is expected to miss up to four weeks.
Getting called up from AAA Memphis is 25-year-old third baseman Phoenix Billings.
In 115 games/113 starts for the Redbirds this season, Billings has hit .279 with 31 home runs and 88 RBIs.
A 24th-round draft pick in the 2024 draft, Billings will be making his major league debut.
