Game 1: Fort Hagen 1 at Roxbury 10
Gupta, Rad Sox Wallop Silver Shroud in Game 1 of SSS
The Roxbury Rad Sox started the Sole Survivor Series in style today, downing the visiting Fort Hagen Silver Shroud at Atomatoys Stadium at Roxbury by a score of 10-1 to grab an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Rad Sox shortstop Purple Gupta went 1 for 1 with a home run and 4 walks. He scored 3 runs.
Biddy Swenson dealt the Silver Shroud a blow in the bottom of the first. Batting with the bases loaded and Roxbury leading 2-0, Swenson, who is a four-time Corvega Top Defender Award winner, hit a full count slider for a bases-clearing double.
"I'm really happy I delivered," said Gupta. "The pressure is so high up there, it's indescribable. This is the Sole Survivor Series."
Nuke Laloosh pitched a complete game for the Sox. In 9.0 innings, he allowed one earned run on nine hits with four strikeouts. The lone run allowed was a 6th-inning bomb by the Shroud's Ben Pawlak.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Atomatoys Stadium at Roxbury in Roxbury.
Notes: Purple Gupta sets the SCA playoff game record for bases on balls with 4.
Game 2: Fort Hagen 2 at Roxbury 0
Fort Hagen Wins to Pull Even With Roxbury
The Fort Hagen Silver Shroud defeated the Roxbury Rad Sox, 2-0, in Game 2 of the Sole Survivor Series. Doing his part was starter Derek Green, who threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball. The win moves Fort Hagen into a 1-1 tie with Roxbury in the series.
In his 104-pitch effort, Green allowed no runs on 2 hits over 7 innings. He walked 1 and struck out 9.
"For the most part, I stayed out of the middle of the plate," Green said.
Ben Pawlak homered for the second-straight game. For the game, he was 2 for 4 with a double, a home run, two runs, and an RBI.
Game 3 is scheduled for Saturday at Hubris Comics Park in Fort Hagen.
Note: RP Roger Failure was injured while pitching. It appears to be a significant injury that will keep him out into the 2304 season.
