Game 78: Detroit Tigers vs. Boston Americans

The hometown fans were treated to a late-inning rally that saw the Boston Americans (57-21) prevail over the Detroit Tigers (43-35) by a score of 4 to 3.

The ageless wonder Cy Young (15-3) picked up another win by limiting the Tigers to 3 earned runs on 5 hits and 3 walks, Game Score of 68. That makes 11 consecutive victories since his last lost on April 27th. Togie Pittinger (12-7) was tagged with the loss after allowing 4 runs (3 earned) on 13 hits and 1 walk; Game Score of 44.

At the plate, Boston hitters Bill Lange (3 for 5, Triple, 2 Runs, 1 Stolen Base), John Farrell (2 for 4, Double, 1 Run), and Fred Clarke (3 for 4, 1 Run, 1 RBI) were locked in. Candy LaChance (1 for 1, Double, 2 RBIs) came up big in a pinch hitting opportunity for the Tigers. Of note, Chick Stahl went 2 for 4 today to raise his batting average to an American League leading .343 mark.

Player of the Game: Cy Young (Season: #10 / Career: #27)
