Game 79: Detroit Tigers vs. Boston Americans
A crowd of 5,715 fans came out to the ballpark to see a match-up between last year's 2nd place and 3rd place Platinum Pitcher aces. Unfortunately for the home crowd, Detroit (44-35) got the better of Boston (57-22) by a score of 4 to 0.
Doc White (9-13) picked up the win as he shutout the opposition and allowed just 5 hits and 1 wild pitch to finish with a Game Score of 80. Noodles Hahn (12-8) has been struggling as of late gave up 4 earned runs on 7 hits and 1 walk over 8 innings of play; Game Score of 55. Reliever Al Orth wrapped things up with a clean final inning in the defeat.
The Tigers received offensive help from Dave Fultz (2 for 3, Triple, 1 Run), Hugh Duffy (1 for 1, Double, 1 Run, 1 RBI), Tom Daly (1 for 4, Double, 2 RBIs). The Americans saw John Farrell (2 for 3) and Ossee Schreckengost (2 for 3) put the ball in play but were not able to capitalize on their efforts.
