Cards news: Dec. 3 -- Catcher Nido acquired for 1B Preston Hall
The St. Louis Cardinals have acquired catcher Thomas Nido from the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for AAA first baseman Preston Hall.
Nido, 32, spent the 2026 season at AAA Las Vegas where he hit .251 with eight home runs and 42 RBIs in 108 games.
Hall, a ninth-round selection in the 2024 draft, has been stuck at AAA Memphis the past two season with Paul Goldschmidt holding down the first base position in the majors.
The 24-year-old hit .274 for the Redbirds last season with 38 home runs and 119 RBI in 135 games/129 start.
In 2025, Hall hit .249 with 32 home runs and 100 RBIs.
Hall has played nine games in the majors, hitting .111 with three RBIs in 29 total at bats.
