Thanks for the kind words! I'm honestly amazed in retrospect my brain was able to come up with this whole thing. (And it gets far more complex from where I'm at in the writeup part with a bunch more leagues, a lot of expansion teams, and a big re-tool of a few leagues down the line). My hope is to continue the writing all the way up to where the save actually is (currently the start of 2037) but there's still a long way to go and my work schedule will get busy again come August.

Auckland won the Australasia League for the first time in the sixth season the Oceania Baseball Association. The Avengers had a solid turnaround from a 70-win 1964, taking the top spot at 95-67. Defending champ Adelaide fell to second place at 87-75.

Avengers Designated Hitter Aidan McMillan won his second league MVP, having also taken it in 1962. The 27-year old Australian switch hitter was the league leader in runs (98), hits (194), doubles (34), average (.314), slugging (.536), OPS (.900), wRC+ (183), and WAR (8.1). He also had a 24-hame hit streak, which is the current OBA record. Adelaide’s Flynn Rodden won Pitcher of the Year with the first Triple Crown season in OBA history. The 25-year old lefty from Perth had a 21-10 record, 1.73 ERA, and 358 strikeouts in 311.2 innings. He was also the WARlord (11.9) and leader in quality starts (31), K/BB (7.2), shutouts (7) and FIP- (53).

The Pacific League was a competitive field in 1965. After coming up short in back-to-back seasons despite 90+ wins in both, Tahiti took their first league title with a 92-70 record. The Tropics beat Port Moresby by three games and Honolulu by four games. Defending league champ Guadalcanal fell to fourth at 83-79.

Leading Tahiti’s effort was Pitcher of the Year Te Paoro Rangi. The 27-year old New Zealander was the leader in wins at 24-11 and in quality starts at 33. He had a 2.42 ERA over 300.2 innings with 252 strikeouts and 8.5 WAR. Guam RF Sione Hala won the MVP, the first of nine in what would become an all-time great career. In his first full season as a starter, the 22-year old Tonga was the league leader in the triple slash (.314/.361/.570), OPS (.931), wRC+ (188), WAR (7.7), hits (186) and triples (34), adding 36 home runs and 100 RBI.

In the Oceania Championship, two first-time league winners squared off. After the last three titles went to the Australasia League, this one went to the Pacific League as Tahiti topped Auckland in five games. Series MVP was outfielder and 1960 Pacific League MVP Adam Lucas. He had been traded to Tahiti at the deadline. In the five games of the series, Lucas had 6 hits, 3 home runs, 5 runs, and 4 RBI.

Other notes: Fiji drew 535 walks over the course of the season, which still stands as the Pacific League record as of 2037. Tahiti’s Brian Harrell had the first 20 strikeout game in OBA history, doing it against Samoa with one walk on July 26. Kenny Rehling is the only player to have won a Gold Glove in all of OBA’s first six seasons, doing it at second base for Honolulu.
