The Rays are staring at elimination in the ALCS thanks to a sustained pathetic performance at the plate, losing today 2-1 after falling 1-0 in Game 3. An excellent
Chris Ferguson start was wasted and they were at 17 straight innings without a run before
Bobby Marin homered despite a back issue that would have disabled him had this been the regular season. And for a moment it looked like they'd pull it out when they got consecutive singles to open the 9th but two strikeouts and a fly out disabused that notion. They did nothing in the three extra frames and Texas got a leadoff triple in the 12th which scored on a fly ball.
Joe Marlette goes tomorrow to try and keep the season alive, but even if he replicates his brilliant Game 1 performance the bats are going to have to do
something.
