Cards news: June 11 -- Two left-pitchers called up from AAA, Weathers and Crawford go down
The St. Louis Cardinals have optioned left-handed relief pitchers Ryan Weathers and Reggie Crawford to AAA Memphis while calling fellow lefties Packy Naughton and Jeff Singer up from the Redbirds.
Acquired in an off-season trade with San Francisco, Crawford has spent the bulk of the season in Memphis before being called up in late May.
In six games with the Cardinals, Crawford, 26, went 0-1 with an 8.44 ERA.
Weathers, 27, opened the season in the starting rotation -- he made seven starts going 0-4 with a 7.82 ERA -- before being moved to the bullpen.
In 11 outings as a reliever, Weathers posted no record but did have a 9.00 ERA over 14 innings.
Weathers has to pass through waivers before he can join the Redbirds.
Singer, 33, pitched in 10 games in Memphis going 1-0 with one save and a 2.40 ERA.
Singer has spent time in the majors including during the 2026 season.
In 100 MLB outings, 60 in Oakland and 40 with the Cardinals, he is 3-10 with a 5.67 ERA.
Naughton, 31, also has major league experience with seven games as a member of the Los Angeles Angels to go with 95 with the Cardinals.
In this 102 outings, he is 5-9 with six saves and 4.42 ERA.
This season at Memphis, Naughton has gone 4-2 with five saves and a 3.16 ERA.
